Our Dear Baby James

by John
(State College, Pa)

James

James

My baby was born 2 months ago. He was an unexpected addition to our family, but of course has become a welcome addition, as he has brought countless moments of pleasure and pride to our lives already.

James has a great temperament. He only cries when he wants something, but then when he gets it he stops almost immediately.

He recently began legitimately smiling, which was such a gratifying moment. Now he interacts with us more, smiling when we do something goofy and widening his eyes when he is surprised.

He’s slowly beginning to babble, which makes us excited to think our little boy will soon be communicating with us in ways other than nonverbal expressions.

Perhaps the one thing I’ve enjoyed the most since he’s been born is just sitting next to his crib, helping him to go to sleep, and letting his little hand clutch my finger. Even though it’s only a reflex, he won’t let go, and I don’t want him to.

Fleeting Precious Moments
by: Anonymous

I love what you said about his clutching your finger and you not wanting him to let go. Don't you wish you could just hold those moments in a box to be pulled out at will? Good for you that you understand the preciousness of these moments.

Love Your Baby Photo!
by: Naveena

That is the most adorable baby photo. I love how the shot is styled with James dressed in white and how the sleeves are too long. It really accentuates how tiny he is.

My son still sometimes likes to sleep in that position - even now as a toddler.

Congratulations on your new baby!
