The Infant Car Seat Cover - Oh So Stylish! (and Practical)

Are you tired of blending in with the crowd? An infant car seat cover makes a style statement wherever you go. No need for the bland, neutral, is-it-a-he-or-she-type car seats. These covers get your beautiful baby the attention deserved.

Made to fit over most standard baby car seats (even a Britax car seat cover), these make converting a car seat from "blah" to classy masculine or chic feminine a snap! No more of this neutral stuff! Dads are even sure to love these covers, especially if it's a camo car seat cover for boys or for girls!

For car seat covers that will really appeal to "Mom", here are my favorites around the web.

Yes, Even Practical

On top of their great style, you can totally classify these as practical.

It's a fact of life. Baby car seats get gross! Acquiring a replacement infant car seat cover will save you time and frustration.

You know that nice, fresh-smelling car seat that you have for your newborn baby? I'm sorry to say it won't be so very fresh much longer.

In today's world of transportation, your baby will spend a lot of time in his car seat. Despite your precautions, your newborn baby WILL spit up and leak his diaper all over that manufacturer's car seat cover.

Unfortunately, washing the manufacturer's car seat cover is a job that I (and most other moms) find to be a pain!

Why? Because most are made so that they are VERY time-consuming to remove. After removing and washing, you need to reverse the process to put it back on the car seat. At this point, if you ignored the manufacturer's recommendation to hand or sponge wash (sure, like I'm going to sponge wash newborn diaper "leakage" off of the baby car seat cover), the cover may no longer fit properly.

So how will a replacement infant car seat cover be different? Most are made to slip over the manufacturer's car seat cover. There is no need to remove the straps and harnesses from the car seat since they simply pull through the "slip-on" cover. The replacement car seat cover is then closed by snaps or velcro. This makes removing and washing much simpler.

Some Cautions...

What's the down side? Be aware that your car seat manufacturer's warranty may be voided if you choose to use a different cover. Also, do not purchase a thickly padded cover (such as sheepskin) since this may compromise the safety of your baby. In the event of an accident, the padding could compress, allowing enough slack that your baby could be ejected.

Overall, the replacement infant car seat cover, with its great style and practicality, is at the top of my "Smart Picks for a New Mom" list!
